Activities to try to achieve this target...
- Encourage MG to use his spoon as independently as possible when eating his favourite yoghurt.
- Initially show MG the spoon/yoghurt pot as an object of reference and say 'M time for yoghurt', or use a symbol of the yoghurt if you are confident MG recognises the meaning of the object.
- Scoop the yoghurt onto the spoon and place on the side of the yoghurt pot or on a plate at the side, encouraging MG to pick it up as independently as possible and feed himself. Have another spoon ready just incase one is dropped or loaded waiting for the next mouthful.
- This may need hand over hand/supported guidance by holding the end of the spoon initially. Give MG plenty of time to reach for his own yoghurt spoon and give lots of praise/singing once he has completed a mouthful.
