Languages, Literacy and Communication

What you will need for the Gruffalo sensory story -

  • Any puppets of the animals in the story you can find or printed characters on sticks! i.e. Gruffalo, Mouse, Fox, Owl, Snake
  • Wood - dark blanket and sticks/leaves 
  • Rocks - stones
  • Stream - water spray or bowl of water
  • Scrambled Snake - bread crumbs or cereal
  • Owl Ice cream - cold pack from fridge
  • Roasted Fox - warm microwave wheat bag (see website for instructions how to make)
  • Lake - foil
  • Log pile house - twigs and small logs
  • Tree house - leaves
  • Under ground house - dark blanket
  • 'You go ahead and I'll follow after' - walk around in a circle and listen to the song
  • Gruffalo crumble - dry rice to throw in the air
  • Nut - conkers
