"Learning To Achieve"

Drama

Hi Everyone!  Here's an idea for you!

Below I have  uploaded a  how to information sheet  for making your own Shoe Box Theatre! Just  like the  one you saw in the St Dwynwen assembly. If you try it let us know how it went!

Make a Shoe box Puppet theatre

The Lion King

The Lion King's Hakuna Matata

Bringing stories to life!

The video shows a song from the classic ‘The Lion King’ that your child may be familiar with.

During the video you will see no verbal speech this helps enable children to focus on objects, face paint to help emphasise the character and facial expressions to help children understand the emotion the character is feeling.

Sensory elements have also been added to the song to help children ‘feel’ like they are a part of the song and therefore learn through their senses.

A lot of our pupils are familiar with Drama sessions and may enjoy the video shared!

Task:

Allow your child to show their creativity side. Help them make their own props for the story or song they wish to bring to life.

Once they have done this, try little sessions to focus on their character.

Think of, gestures, body movement, speech/sign and facial expressions.

If you would like to add a sensory element to your chosen story or song, think about:

Touch, Smell, Taste, Sound and Sight

Once they are ready, try filming a short performance made by your child and don't forget - you can join in too!

Don’t be afraid to dress the part with materials, costumes or face paint. This may also help your child to dress up if they see you joining them.

Enjoy, be creative but above all - HAVE FUN!
