Mirror Play

Mirror play

We introduce the children to their beautiful faces by showing them their reflection in a mirror several times a day. Using a mirror will help your child to be able to focus their attention, track images and explore the wonderful things their faces can do. A mirror also helps to promote social and emotional development as they interact with you.

Whilst using a mirror you could pull different faces such as happy, sad or silly faces, notice how if and how your child responds and attempts to imitate any of these actions.

As you explore the mirror with your child you could also begin to point to and say the different parts of their face.

Anticipation games such as 'Peek-a-boo' can also be great fun if a mirror is used.
