'It Moves'
This summer term the children will have a variety of fun packed activities which hopefully will enhance thier experiences and learning. Our topic for this summer term is 'it Moves.' Dosbarth Eirlys will be learning and broadening their knowledge about transport through sensory sessions, maths and numeracy, sensory drama, educational visits sensory sessions, stories etc. The children will carry out a variety of activities incorporating the six areas of learning. We plan to deliver aditional activities such as arts & crafts, cookery, messy play, P.E etc. Songs we shall be singing will be '5 Green Cars', 'The Wheels on the Bus' etc. In science we shall be making paddle boats, Kites and parachutes.
We plan to give the children opportunities to experince moving vehicles through sensory drama, pupils will have the option to dress up as a police officer, Bus driver, train conductor etc The pupils will also have the opportunity to push toy vehicles through different textures and teraine. We will be making space rockets in D&T. The books we will be focussing on in language and literacy are 'The Train Ride' and 'The Boat Trip'.
The children will take it in turns to have a bus trip to 'Cardiff Bay' and 'Roath Park', to look at the boats, busses, and bikes. We shall continue our visits to our local Hyb to gather reading resorces for our topic. In Food Technology we shall make a 'Train cake' and 'Car biscuits.'
We will be learning about and celebrating Eid, Muslims around the world will mark the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadam. To celebrate the sighting of the Shawal cresent moon we plan to make a Star and Moon Eid Mobile in D&T.
