'The Olympics'

 We have a very exciting summer term ahead, full of fun and enjoyable activities. Our topic for this summer term is 'The Olympics.' Dosbarth Eirlys will be learning and broadening their knowledge about competitive sport and ethos for our country. The pupils will learn all things about the Olympics through sensory sessions, maths and numeracy, sensory drama, educational visits sensory sessions, stories etc. We as a class have chosen the country 'Canada' to learn and support throughout the Olympics. The children will carry out a variety of activities incorporating the six areas of learning. We plan to deliver aditional activities such as arts & crafts, cookery, messy play, P.E etc. We plan to make individual Canadian flags in preperation for the whole school Olympic parade.

We will focus on physical movement and well being to a greater extent by taking part in Yoga, dance, basketball, feather fever and line dancing weekly. In science we will focus on our bodies and how we move. We have an exciting sensory Olympic Tac Pac to carry our with the children.

  We plan to give the children opportunities to experince different sports such as Javelin, skittles, bowls, skate boarding. 

 The children will take it in turns to have a bus trip to 'Cardiff Bay' and 'Roath Park' to experince the outdoors and where to access sport activities.  We shall continue our visits to our local Hwb to gather reading resorces for our topic.  In Food Technology we shall make a 'Ring shortbread biscuits' and 'fruit smoothies' etc

 This term we shall see 'Fathers Day', we will help the children make this a speacial occasion for all Dad's and fantastic role models.
