"Learning To Achieve"

Tap, Tap, Box

Using the 'Tap, Tap, Box'

Encourage your child to use the Tap, Tap, box to request a song of their choice for you to then sing or play to them.

Why not have a go at making your own 'Tap, Tap, Box' this week. Below are some more ideas for 'Tap Tap Box' song choices that we have used this year and related objects:

- Star - Twinkle, twinkle little star

-Boat- Row, row, row your boat

-Duck- 5 little ducks

-Rabbit- Sleeping bunnies

-Turtle- I had a little turtle, his name was Tiny Tim

-Sheep- Baa baa black sheep

-Any figure of person- Head, shoulders, knees and toes

-Cup- Im a little teapot

-Plastic egg- Humpty Dumpty

-Troll toy-  Troll song- Get back up again

-Frozen Elsa figure- Let it go

-Stick- Hey duggee's stick song

-Train- Thomas the tank theme song

- Bear- Round and round the garden song

I wouldn't recommend anymore than 8 objects at a time in the box. You may have to offer some physical prompts to help your child choose a song choice and the songs have to motivate them in order for them to want to engage in the activity. If your child chooses 2 objects, hold both objects at their eye level and encourage them to choose between the two you are holding. Your child may then show you which object they want by telling you, or they may gaze with their eyes, gesture, point or reach towards the object they desire. Ensure whatever song is chosen the same song is sung or played every time to help your child understand what each object relates to.
